A Quick Blog Of Libby Beads

Just wanted to get these beads blogged about before I move onto the next batch of recently made creations.  These beads are based on the formula I learned from Libby L. at the ISGB Gathering this past summer.  I already sold two of them so I will be making more since my customers seem to like them just as much as I do.  Hope you like them too!

There was a 4th bead but that one sold before I got to photograph it.  But you get the idea of the fun colors and patterns of this type of bead.

Be back soon!

More Beads

Still catching up on sharing my latest beads.  These are all made with Double Helix silvered glass and I used many of the techniques I learned from Hayley Tsang.  I loved her class and I still enjoy making these beads.  I'm amazed that I can actually remember how to make these even though her class was quite a while ago.  I don't remember which combinations I used on each bead but these 5 beads have some combination of Terranova 2.1, Psyche, Luna 3, Gaia, Ekho, Elektra, PK 567, Helios, SK 548, Oxalis and Frit: Gaia, Psyche, Aurae, and Tabasco light.

I know I post a lot of photos but these beads are so shiny and each lighting condition shows a different aspect of each bead.  These first 6 photos are all of the same bead:

The second bead can be made into a pendant or used on the Burgard 3 Post Changeable System:

The next bead can also be made into a pendant or used with the Burgard 3 Post Changeable System:

The 4th bead is my favorite bead of this batch because I got some new and unusual effects. This is one I really which I remembered what I used - it's in my notes but I can't tell which formula goes with which bead because I forgot to take a photograph of the order they came out of the kiln.  Hope you like it too:

As always, thanks for stopping in to see what I'm up to with glass.  I still have more to share soon!

Fall Colored Beads - Tumble Etched.

I am finally posting on my blog!  I have so much to catch up on - don't I always say that?  I guess that's a good thing to say as it means I have been busy making lots of beads.  I had a fun summer with some traveling and one of my trips was to the ISGB Gathering for a full week of beads, glass, tools, supplies, jewelry components, lectures, classes and more beads and glass....  I was exhausted after a full week of that.  So after I rested up for a few days I couldn't wait to get back to the torch and experiment with all the new ideas, information and inspiration floating around in my head.

Here is a new style of bead that I am really loving.  I especially like how this technique looks with opaque fall colors.  It involves etching the bead after it's made with a tumbling process and then to enhance and protect the glass it gets a fine coating of oil/beeswax and this part just makes all the striations pop!

These beads are all thick walled hollows and here is a picture of how they looked before I tumbled them:
I think they are very pretty without the tumbling too!

After I made these hollows I moved on to make... focal beads of course as I seem to be enjoying and selling focals for pendants.

These next photos are just for my own use so I can look back and see the glass used to create each color so just ignore them - unless you are a bead-maker and want to know what I used.

By The Sea

I haven't physically been to the beach lately but I have been there in my mind.  I enjoyed making these mermaids more than I expected.  I made these over a period of three days.  Each day I would sit down at the torch I just felt like making another mermaid.  They take some time to make and I think I will enjoy developing other tails, bodies, and accessories.  Maybe I will even try a merman!

Just need a bit of flora and fauna to go with whatever I make with my mermaids and other sea related ideas I have yet to make.
Random Sea life

Experimenting with some shells.  They need a bit more work but I am happy with my start.  These were very fun to make!

This next bead is one I made in my class with Libby at the ISGB Gathering.

I am officially caught up with the beads I have photographed and edited.  I do have jewelry to make this week as well as some new beads.  I hope to have those photographed and ready to share with you soon!

Some exciting news!!!
I will be displaying my beads and jewelry at the Levis Commons art show next weekend in front of Salvatore Capelli Salon 4105 Chapel Drive so stop by and say hello and check out all the great items the Salon will have on display for the event.  I love this art show - not too big, not too small.  Lots of great art and and friendly artists.
Hope to see you there!
