New CIM Colors!

Santa was very good to me this year and brought me all kinds of great glass including the newest CIM Colors!  I got to play with a few of the CIM colors and I like what I see so far!

This first bead is a base of CIM Maraschino http://www.creationismessy.com/color.aspx?id=109 with DH Triton Scrolls.  Maraschino is a beautiful shade of red and silvered glass looks very pretty with it!

When I saw the rod color of the Maraschino http://www.creationismessy.com/color.aspx?id=109, I had a feeling it would work well with the DH Clio formula that creates those pretty pink beads and sure enough it worked.  This is just a small test bead and I was very pleased with what I got - can't wait to try it on the larger beads now!!!

This next bead is CIM Valentine http://www.creationismessy.com/color.aspx?id=112 with DH Triton Scrolls.  Valentine is a deeper shade of red than Maraschino and here again, I think it works great with shiny silvered glass!

I tried a few different applications using CIM Purple Haze http://www.creationismessy.com/color.aspx?id=115.  It is a pretty shade of light (I would call it pale) purple/lavender.  And let me tell you, it is hard to get a good photograph showing the true color when used alone or over a white base.  Here are a couple photos of the assorted beads I made using the Purple Haze.

1. The first bead is CIM Purple Haze encased with CIM clear and a few black dots melted in on top.
2. The second bead I had to change up a bit after I started making it.  I had to change my plan because the CIM Hades base ate up the Effetre white dots instead of letting them spread out on the surface of the bead (good notes for future use depending on what type of bead I'm making!) So this second bead has CIM Evil Queen dots on top of the white and then I left raised dots of Purple Haze on top of everything.
3. The third bead has Effetre black for a base, white dots with some CIM Evil Queen on top then I put some Rubino Oro on the center dots only then capped all the dots with some CIM Purple Haze.  I wanted to see how the Purple Haze worked over the RO.  I used to use Crocus - 3 on top of RO for a beautiful deep, hot purple/pink.  The Purple Haze over the RO has a nice effect but it's not the same as the discontinued Crocus - 3 (which I so wish CIM would bring back!!!!!)
4. The fourth bead is just Effetre white encased with CIM Purple Haze with a second encasement of CIM clear.  Honestly I just could not capture the true color in any of the photos I took of this bead.  It's a very pretty palest of pale purple.
5.  The fifth bead has a base of CIM Evil Queen, encased with CIM Purple Haze with a second encasement of CIM clear and has raised dots of CIM Evil Queen.

Here are a few close up's of the individual beads and some capture the true colors a bit better this way.

This is the last bead of the day.  I only had time to make one bead with this new color.  It's CIM Cotton Candy http://www.creationismessy.com/color.aspx?id=116.  Here I've made a white base, encased it with CIM Cotton Candy and encased it a second time with CIM clear and left raised scrolls of the CIM Cotton Candy.  Now don't make fun of my background but this bubble wrap seemed to do the trick so I could capture the truest color of this glass.  I will have to go back and try the bubble wrap with some of those other very pale colors.

I really like this color and think I will be using it in my breast cancer awareness beads/jewelry!

I can't wait to try all the rest of the CIM colors along with all the other beautiful glass that Santa brought me!

Thanks for stopping by to read my blog!  Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and best wishes to you all for a safe and happy New Year!!!!

Purple, Pink, & "Pandoralikeish" - & New Zebra Style Too!

Yep, I've got some catching up to do for sure!  I've been busy filling requests/orders for finished jewelry and beads like crazy and I'm just now getting to post a few of them.

I'll start with what I like the best - my new experiments have led me to a new swirly style that looks somewhat like my zebra beads but not exactly.  These are, most likely, for a friend/customer as I've been working on designing something she wants.  It's been interesting trying to match up 1. the image she has in her mind with 2. what I think she is talking about and 3. the way certain glass colors like and dislike playing together.  Here is what I consider my best success so far with the task:

The first five beads in this photo are the ones I'm talking about.  The last 3 are for the same project if we go the "non-swirly" route.  This was my first time to use Reichenbach Deep Black and it sure made a difference in the finished bead!  I like this black a lot!!!  I made a twistie ofthe Deep Black with a Medium Gray I had in my stash - it may be vetrofond but it's from my first glass purchase when I bought my torch so the label is long gone but I currently have it labeled as Med. Gray #2.  I also added a bit of ivory on each side of the twist before it was actually twisted - only my bead making friends will know what I'm talking about there I bet.  I put the twist over a base of Lt. Gray #1 and encased in effetre clear.  Some I swirled more than others but they all came out nice! The last 3 beads are a base of Lt. Gray #1 (again this label is no more either), clear encased and I used Deep Black and Lt. Gray #1 for surface decoration.

Playing with purple seems to be a never ending thing when it comes to glass.  You can layer so many different combinations to create beautiful and varying shades.

I ended up liking EDP covered with Med. Transp. Blue 591054 covered with Dk. Transp. Lavender 591081which is what the first 4 beads above have been made with.  The rest are different shades of Ink Blue, Dk. and Med. Purples over bases of periwinkle, white and lavender.  I do like Violet Ink Blue odd prem. transparent over white too which is shown in the 5th bead above.  Other than that, most of the purples were too dark or too brown for my taste.

This set is a set of large hole beads I made on request for a customer.  They are black and white with accents of RO.

These are large hole "Pandoralikeish" beads too.  In case you are wondering why I'm not just saying they are my Pandor_ style beads these days is because there have been a few law suites filed by that company against some beadmakers and I'd rather avoid that!!!

I've had a lot of request for these large hole beads that fit the European Style Bracelets and it's been quite a while, maybe even a year, since I've made them.  Photos are not the best but I didn't have time to photograph each one separately.

These are a pair of earrings I made for a customer recently.  I love them!  I am going to have to make a pair like these for myself!

I know that's a lot of photos of the same pair of earrings but I was playing around with different backgrounds and I'm taking a poll.  If you care to let me know which photo you think shows the earrings the best please do!  I like them all for different reasons but if I had to eliminate one it would be the coral.

That's it!  Hope you are all ready for Christmas!!!  I have a few more things to wrap and some cookie dough to make but I'm pretty relaxed and ready for the big day!

I wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and if I don't blog again before then, A very Happy New Year too!!!

More Monthly Challenges 16 November to 15 December

Here are a few more that I made for the SE9 Silvered Glass Exchange and Challenge.  Not all of them will make the cut there but I'll blog them all here for my own person reference and you might enjoy them too.
Ivory Base, assorted stringers including DH TH 473 all swirled and raked.  Raised dots of clear and aurae to finish it.
Other side
I really enjoyed making these organic free form beads.  A nice change from my intricate pattern beads I think.

These all have use of DH TH473 for the silvered glass but the bases and stringers vary.  In order to save time here I will refer to my notes for exact formulas if I need them instead of listing them here.  I just have too much to get posted tonight to add all the details.

Mystery brown from Tom's "Craigslist" score.  Not a bad base for organic style beads.

Not a good combo here - CDC was the base.
Can't wait until my free form scroll work is pretty but until then, practice, practice, practice.
Over french blue is not a great combo - in my opinion.
More practice with my scroll work - when done right, these beads are so pretty!
I started some strait line stringer and I had a few boo-boo's so I just melted it all in flat.  Just part of that p,p,p...
More boo-boo stringer and dots here - but I kind of like the way it turned out.
These beads are not part of the Silvered Glass Bead Exchange.  I needed to make some beads for specific applications so here they are - these are just the most fun to make!

This green bead is one I demoed for some friends that wanted to see how I made beads.
Tim and Lynn here is the bead you watched me create
Now for some jewelry that I'm working on for a few people:
Designed with the help of Lynn
Charlotte - what do you think so far?
Okay Cary H - this is just one photo of an idea I had for your gray and black request.  Still working on other ideas but let me know what you think so far:
Cary H's Black and Gray - just a sketch at this point.
I have this bracelet back in my possession!  I can't decide if I want to keep it for myself or put it up for sale.  I love this bracelet - unique colors and shine.
I know that was a lot to take in.  My schedule is pretty full these days so it seems this is the way it's going to be till after Christmas.  I have orders to fill yet but should be able to take a few more orders for Christmas gifts if anyone still needs them.  I have a nice assortment of pre-made items for the last minute shoppers too so don't hesitate to contact me at the last minute.

Hope you are all having a fun time preparing for the holidays with little to no stress.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by and read my blog!!!!
